Police in Nairobi are investigating a bizarre incident where an MCA was almost lynched by an angry mob in downtown Nairobi on suspicion of stealing mobile phones from a shop.
Cyrus Kisavi, also known as Sonko, the representative for Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in Kitui is currently receiving medical treatment at a Nairobi hospital after police rescued him from a mob over the weekend.
Reports indicate that Kisavi was assaulted by a group of men after he was caught attempting to steal from a shop in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
Police sources say that the MCA had previously stolen a box containing six iPhone Pro 15 devices and had returned to the same shop for more only for him to be apprehended.
This is after attendants at the shop raised an alarm attracting people who were nearby.
The crowd immediately rained on the MCA with kicks and blows causing him severe injuries before police arrived.
The young politician was subsequently taken to Kamukunji police station and later admitted to a hospital in the city, where he is currently under care.
